Design and realisation
Case making begins with construction of a wooden box. It is made completely by hand, following strict european tradition and know-how.
Wood is bent by hand, using the old technology that was used for violin making long ago, and all details are finished by hand.
All wooden boxes are also sandpapered manually, one by one, until the surface is perfectly finished.
Along with the woodwork, our workers choose the finest leather and cut it manually with love and dedication to avoid any possible mistake on the leather surface.
After this, the leather is ready to be turned into a leather cover using a slow and dedicated sawing maschine process.
In a different part of the factory, our craftsmen start a meticulouse process of assembling the case's interior. Using the finest accessories, velvets and silks brought from worldwide we construct each piece with the deepest feeling for detail.
While the parts are being assembled, other workers concern themself with the metal hardware. Metal parts are a very important issue in violin case making, as they must be strong enough for both carrying the case and ensuring it's maximum reliability. These parts must not break and must also be very well protected against corrosion.
For this, Negri cases D Rings holders (where straps are held) are made of finest aluminium.
Once we receive the pieces from the smelting process, each part is polished by hand again.
After this, the parts require nickel protection and special black rosin, which gives the piece not only a beautifull appearance, but also a much stronger structure. The result: Each piece can hold aprox 100 Kg. of weight.
Handles are also handmade one by one at our workshop and covered with the finest leather available.
This fine work made with passion and with understanding of the world's highest quality standards, ensures our continuing integrity.
Negri cases is happy and confident to continue serving musicians and protecting their instruments for many generations to come. We can do this by making the product with pride, passion and a love for detail.
